Building Machines is hiring an experienced Mechanically oriented Robotics Engineer to lead the the design and development of a new class of robotic additive manufacturing technology for the construction industry.
In this role you will be responsible for delivering novel robotic systems from prototype to production. You should be comfortable wearing many hats and expect to be hands-on in architecting, designing, assembling, and literally getting your hands dirty testing in the lab and at customer sites.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
Define and invent technology solutions and contribute to product roadmap.
Design new electromechanical systems using your industry experience and analysis to guide decision making.
Collaborate across disciplines to create efficient solutions that prioritize customers.
Get your hands dirty in both the detailed design of systems and parts as well as building and testing them in the lab.
Establish clear and testable requirements from customer and business input.
Design and build prototypes using multiple manufacturing methods leveraging both in-house and external fabrication resources.
Test, iterate and refine complex systems from concept to production using structured problem solving techniques.
Support fielded pilot systems as needed.
Make value driven decisions when determining whether to make or buy components.
Basic Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering
5+ years experience
Experience designing systems utilizing custom mechanisms, actuators, and sensors
Proficient in CAD/FEA
Experience with tolerance analysis using GD&T
Demonstrated ability to efficiently prioritize multiple projects
Basic ability to write code and interface with electronics
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in firmware, real-time programming, and ROS
Basic electrical design experience
Machine shop experience
Experience with construction and/or concrete
Knowledge of fluid handling systems
MS or PhD in ME or related field
